Craig Sweeny
Television Producer and Screenwriter
Craig Sweeny created and ran the CBS TV series LIMITLESS and THE CODE. Sweeny had long stints writing and producing the hit shows ELEMENTARY and MEDIUM, serving as Executive Producer on both. Other credits include STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, the original version of THE 4400, and PLAYMAKERS. He has also directed for MEDIUM and THE CODE, and as an actor, Sweeny originated the role of Cecil the hot dog vendor in LIMITLESS. He is currently developing a high-profile science fiction series for Paramount Plus, along with a crime series called KNOW-IT-ALL and several other projects.
Since 2018, Craig has been proud to serve as a volunteer mentor for the Writers Guild Foundation’s Veterans Writing Project. The program is designed to identify emerging writers from United States military backgrounds and provide them with the tools and insights to nurture their passion for writing and successfully navigate the entertainment industry. Over the course of one year, mentors guide participants in developing a complete feature or pilot script by providing individualized feedback, perspective on craft, and career-building advice.
In his free time, Craig’s primary hobby is shepherding his daughters to ballet classes and rehearsals. When he’s not doing that, he trains in the martial arts and currently holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. Under a pseudonym, Sweeny reviews heavy metal music at angrymetalguy.com. He is also an Associate member of the Academy of Magical Arts and enjoys hosting dinners at their clubhouse the Magic Castle.
A native of Pittsburgh, Sweeny attended Colgate University where he received a BA in English Literature. After a stint in book publishing, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a writing career in 2001.
